On May 27, 2015, Portfolio Manager Bill Hench was one of four panelists of small-cap investors to participate in's "Small Cap Investing" Masterclass. Hosted by Courtney Woodworth, Bill shared comments with Mitch Begun of Denver Investments, Jack McPherson of Aristotle Capital Boston, and Gregory Halter of Homestead Funds.

During the course of their discussion, the panelists touched on a wide variety of topics concerning small-cap investing in today's environment, including interest rates, a strong dollar, the decline in oil prices, slow economic growth, and more. Additionally, each guest talked about their investment strategies and where they are finding opportunities.

"We own a lot of tech," said Bill. "And most of them aren't new technology but they're component makers, chip makers, people supplying the people who ultimately give you the product," he added.

Bill Hench joined the firm in 2002 and has 22 years of investment industry experience. He serves as portfolio manager for Royce Opportunity Fund (with lead portfolio manager Buzz Zaino) and Royce Micro-Cap Opportunity Fund (formerly Royce Opportunity Select Fund).
