Bridget Hughes of Morningstar includes Royce Special Equity Fund (RYSEX) in her article “Six Small-Cap Funds Beckon.” She writes: “Analyst Pick Royce Special Equity Fund is something of a dichotomy. While it invests in some of the stock market’s smallest companies – which can heighten the risk that they may not be strong enough to endure tough economies – manager Charlie Dreifus is one of the mutual fund industry’s most conservative investors. He simply doesn’t like to lose money – ever – and he is one of the most stringent evaluators of accounting statements.” She also pays Dreifus a compliment by titling her coverage, “Worried About the Current Credit Crisis? Try Royce Special Equity [Fund].”
Morningstar’s Karin Anderson also highlights Royce Special Equity Fund (RYSEX) in her article “These Funds Go Their Own Way.” Anderson recommends the Fund as one of several funds that may help investors increase the diversification of a “heavily indexed retirement portfolio.”
