In his article, “How to Retire with Absolutely Nothing,” Adam Wiederman of The Motley Fool explores the nightmare of a retirement built on “hope” rather than sound investments. He goes on to discuss how his “friend’s mother” may have avoided this “retirement nightmare”. He suggests that investing in an IRA would have been a good first step, and also recommends: “For diversity, she could have added some small-cap holdings by investing in a fund like Royce Select Fund I (RYSFX).”
