Analyst Russel Kinnel reveals the finalists for Morningstar's "Domestic-Stock Fund Manager of the Year." Charlie Dreifus, Portfolio Manager of Royce Special Equity Fund (RYSEX), receives an honorable mention. Morningstar looked at the portfolio managers who collectively manage the 2,795 U.S domestic stock funds tracked by Morningstar as of December 31, 2007. The criteria used by Morningstar includes: the performance of the funds managed by such managers; managers who have "blazed a trail with original research and who stick to their strategies through thick and thin"; and managers who are good "stewards" by putting shareholders' interests first.
