Jay Kaplan was a recent guest on Fox Business News' Countdown to the Closing Bell. He spoke about Royce Value Fund, the Japan crisis and a few companies that he likes.
"It's very tragic, the loss of life, but if we have the weekend to sort of think about this we'll start to focus on how Japan recovers and what the rebuilding has to be and what the spending has to be and what the infrastructure has to be and although the markets take some short term, you would think maybe a pause but the markets have hung in there today, over time it will be a non market event."

The Fund invests primarily in small-cap and mid-cap stocks, which may involve considerably more risk than investing in larger-cap stocks. As of 12/31/10, the Fund held a limited number of stocks, which may involve considerably more risk than a less concentrated portfolio because a decline in the value of any one of these stocks would cause the Fund's overall value to decline to a greater degree. (Please see "Primary Risks for Fund Investors" in the prospectus.) The Fund may invest up to 25% of its net assets in foreign securities, which may involve political, economic, currency and other risks not encountered in U.S. investments. (Please see "Investing in Foreign Securities" in the prospectus.) The Russell 2000 is an unmanaged, capitalization-weighted index of domestic small-cap stocks. It measures the performance of the 2,000 smallest publicly traded U.S. companies in the Russell 3000 index.
