Fox Business News: Royce Dividend Value Fund's Jay Kaplan

Royce Dividend Value Fund Portfolio Manager Jay Kaplan was a guest on Fox Business News' "Countdown to the Closing Bell" with Liz Claman on April 26, 2012. With interests rates still low, Jay believes the Federal Reserve wants people to buy equities.

When analyzing companies, he looks for a strong balance sheet, high returns on invested capital, free cash flow, and dividend payers. Jay said, "We look at ourselves as risk managers… we start with financial leverage."

Jay went on to give several examples of dividend-paying companies that he owns in Royce Dividend Value Fund.

Jay Kaplan manages Royce Total Return Fund (with Chuck Royce), Royce Value Fund (with Whitney George), Royce Dividend Value Fund (with Chuck Royce), and Royce Capital Fund - Small-Cap Portfolio. He also serves as an assistant portfolio manager for Royce Pennsylvania Mutual Fund.
