      In Memory: Denis Fitzgerald

      It is with a collectively heavy heart that we pass on the news of a great loss here at Royce. Denis Fitzgerald, who worked with us for nearly 22 years, died in early February after a six-year battle with cancer.

      Denis began his career at Royce in 1989 as a Client Service Representative and immediately demonstrated the dedication, intelligence and versatility that would distinguish his years with the firm. He soon began to work on Fund- and market-performance projects, splitting time between the Client Service and Marketing areas until moving full-time to the firm's Marketing Department in 1995.

      He brought an extraordinary level of commitment to everything that he touched and had an incalculable influence on the growth and development of both the firm and those with whom he worked. He was instrumental in our efforts to raise the quality of both the content and design of the firm's marketing materials, while also being an early supporter of Royce's online presence. His passion for clarity, accuracy, precision and clean design can be seen in everything that we produce, and his influence on our communication efforts will endure.

      More than his enormous contributions, we will miss Denis himself. He was truly one in a million, and we will never forget him.
