Royce Low-Priced Stock Fund
Value Line's Reuben Gregg Brewer recently reviewed Royce Low-Priced Stock Fund in an article entitled "Royce Finding Opportunities in Technology" (August 3, 2011). Whitney George is the Fund's Portfolio Manager, and James Skinner serves as Assistant Portfolio Manager.
"George is finding that small tech companies are as attractively priced today as they have been at any time over the last decade," says Brewer. "[He] highlights the growing opportunities for technology in the developing world and in areas such as power efficiency in the developed world."
Brewer notes that "Royce considers this fund an "Opportunistic Theme" fund, meaning that it specifically seeks out broader trends that George thinks are exploitable."
Royce Low-Priced Stock Fund invests primarily in small-cap and micro-cap companies, those with market capitalizations up to $2.5 billion, whose average cost per share in the Fund's portfolio is less than $25. Since institutional investors generally do not make low priced stocks (especially those trading at $10 or less per share) an area of focus, we believe that they offer investment opportunities.
