Royce Special Equity Fund
"Another Month, Another Crisis" appeared in the May 2011 issue of Money Magazine, written by Susie Poppick. The commentary touches on how the disaster in Japan affected markets in general, and mutual funds on the "Money 70" list in particular. Foreign funds were hit hardest, but meanwhile, "small company stock funds, which typically have little foreign exposure, fared well." Royce Special Equity Fund was cited among the two "big winners" for the month. [View the Fund's profile page for the Fund's 1-, 5-, and 10-year performance information.]
Charlie Dreifus is the Portfolio Manager of Royce Special Equity Fund, as well as the newly introduced Royce Special Equity Multi-Cap Fund [RSEMX].
In addition to Royce Special Equity Fund, Royce Pennsylvania Mutual Fund and Royce Value Plus Fund are on the "Money 70" list.Important Disclosure Information
Money Magazine selects funds for the "Money 70" list based on these criteria: only funds with lower-than-category-average expenses, good stewardship grades from Morningstar, consistent investment strategy and experienced managers are considered. Long-term performance is also considered: to initially qualify for consideration, a fund must have beaten more than half its peers during the prior five years.
This material is not authorized for distribution unless preceded or accompanied by a current prospectus. Please read the prospectus carefully before investing or sending money. The Fund invests primarily in small-cap and micro-cap stocks which may involve considerably more risk than investing in larger-cap stocks. (Please see "Primary Risks for Fund Investors" in the prospectus.) As of 12/31/10, the Fund held a limited number of stocks, which may involve considerably more risk than a less concentrated portfolio because a decline in the value of any one of these stocks would cause the Fund’s overall value to decline to a greater degree. The Russell 2000 is an unmanaged, capitalization-weighted index of domestic small-cap stocks. It measures the performance of the 2,000 smallest publicly traded U.S. companies in the Russell 3000 index.
