Royce Global Dividend Value Fund was cited in a recent USA Today article entitled "Some New Funds That Hold Promise."
Introduced on December 31, 2010, Royce Global Dividend Value Fund [RGVDX] has a global scope, primarily looking for dividend-paying micro-cap, small-cap, and/or mid-cap companies generally based in developed countries, including the U.S. Chuck Royce is the Fund's Portfolio Manager, and David Nadel is the Assistant Portfolio Manager.
John Waggoner, who wrote the article, makes it clear that newly-introduced funds may face certain pitfalls, but suggests that new funds do make sense "When they're run by experienced managers with good records." He cites Royce Global Dividend Value Fund, noting that Chuck Royce is "the dean of small-cap investors."
"Small funds run by seasoned managers can be exceptionally appealing. They're small enough to be nimble, and they don't start their lives with the capital gains liabilities of many larger funds."
